| I believe in the European Social Model i.e a functioning market economy where the worst possible effects of a capitalist free-for-all are mitigated by the State through a well-developed welfare system and some kind of mechanism for negotiated agreements on economic and social issues. Such a model is characterised by comparatively high taxes, universal public services and comprehensive social insurance. |

2. Health Services - To increase bed capacity in both Beaumont and the Mater Hospitals.
- To improve and expand community based home care and other rehabilitation packages to alleviate pressures on Accident and Emergency Departments countrywide.
- To ensure the speedy building and completion of a new National Children's Hospital on the chosen Mater Hospital site.
- To promote the concept of centres of excellence for certain treatments as considered appropriate and in accordance with best international practice.
|
3. Education - To ensure that the school-building programme is maintained and to target other resources at disadvantaged students and areas of greatest need.
- To encourage continuing adult education and lifelong learning including adult literacy initiatives.
|
4. Crime - To put more Gardaí 'on the beat' to tackle anti-social behaviour.
- To provide the resources necessary for the targeting of organised crime including gun offences and drug trafficking by supporting Garda initiatives including Operation Anvil.
- To use the Criminal Assets Bureau to target middle ranking criminals in addition to top criminals.
|

- To progress with the implementation of the Transport 21 major infrastructural projects eg. Metro North, and the DART Interconnector.
- To encourage the easy flow of traffic through the city by tackling gridlock.
|
6. Environment - To ensure the preservation of Dublin Bay as a public amenity by the rejection of any infill proposals and the designation of Special Protection Areas for the bay as appropriate.
